Hide My Referer Upon Entry

Worried about Sweepstakes requiring direct website entry? Worry no more!

Members can update their Preferences to hide their Referal when entering sweepstakes.

What does this mean?!

It means when you submit your entry, it will appear to the sponsor as if you typed in their website directly to submit your entry. They will no longer be able to tell you are an InfiniteSweeper.

Why?

We believe having many users all come from the same place may effect who is picked. This is not normally the case. But there are some sweepstakes in which it may be a factor.

We have also updated our redirect to be secure.

By having a HTTPS website, this will make your browser no longer pass along your referral to the sweepstakes.

All HTTPS redirects for cloaked members will be converted to HTTP:/ for the redirection. This will ensure infinitesweeps.com is not passed in the referral field at all.

Sweeps with InfiniteSweeps as if you are typing in the sweepstakes yourself

The HTTP referer (originally a misspelling of referrer) is an HTTP header field that identifies the address of the webpage (i.e. the URI or IRI) that linked to the resource being requested. By checking the referrer, the new webpage can see where the request originated.

In the most common situation this means that when a user clicks a hyperlink in a web browser, the browser sends a request to the server holding the destination webpage. The request includes the referrer field, which indicates the last page the user was on (the one where they clicked the link).

Referer logging is used to allow websites and web servers to identify where people are visiting them from, for promotional or statistical purposes.
